Adopt American Kids: A Compassionate Journey through Foster Care Adoption

Adopt American kids who are waiting in the U.S. foster care system! There are thousands of children waiting and praying for a loving, safe, forever family. Choosing to adopt from foster care is a heartwarming decision which offers love, stability, and a bright future to a child in urgent need. It is profoundly life-changing for the child you adopt and for the adoptive family. In this blog, we’ll guide you through the process of adopting American kids while optimizing your journey for search engines using the keyword phrase “adopt American kids.”

Understanding Adoption From Foster Care

Foster care adoption refers to adopting children removed from their birth families due to neglect, abuse, or other reasons. These children are often placed in temporary foster homes while authorities work towards reunification with their biological parents. However, when reunification is not possible, adoption becomes a viable option.

Adopting American Kids is a Game-Changer

  1. Giving a Child a Loving Home: Adopting an American child from foster care provides a stable, loving environment for a child who may have experienced trauma or neglect.
  2. Reducing the Number of Children in Foster Care: Adoption can help reduce the overcrowding in foster care systems, enabling agencies to focus on children still waiting for permanent homes.
  3. Fulfilling Your Dream of Parenthood: For prospective parents, foster care adoption offers a fulfilling path to parenthood, bringing immense joy and purpose to their lives.

The Process to Adopt American Kids

  1. Research and Preparation: Research how to adopt American kids in your state. Attend information sessions, workshops, webinars, etc., and connect with adoption agencies specializing in foster care adoption. Our adoption agency, Building Arizona Families, offers convenient online seminars. View the schedule and RSVP HERE.
  2. Home Study: Undergo a home study, which involves interviews, background checks, and a home assessment to ensure you can provide a safe and loving environment for a child. The home study qualifies you to adopt American kids – it is unnecessary to become a foster parent before adoption.
  3. Matching: Work closely with your adoption agency to find a suitable match. Be patient; finding the right child for your family may take time. Building Arizona Families is qualified to help Arizona families adopt American kids from across the United States.  This program is called the Forever Families Program.
  4. Placement and Legal Procedures: Once matched with your foster child, the child will be placed in your home. The legal procedures vary by state, but they typically involve filing adoption petitions and attending court hearings. Building Arizona Families will walk with you through this process.
  5. Post-Placement Support: Building Arizona Families provides post-placement support to help families and children adjust to their new lives together.

Adopting American Kids is so Worthwhile

Adopting American kids from foster care is a compassionate way to change a child’s life while enriching your own. By understanding the process and the benefits, you can embark on this rewarding journey and provide a loving home to a child who desperately wants to be safe and loved in a forever family. It’s National Foster Care Month for Kids Awaiting Adoption

With approximately 117,000 kids awaiting adoption in the U.S. foster care system, it is always a good time to bring awareness to the need for loving forever families to open their hearts and homes and change the lives of these vulnerable children and teens.  This month is National Foster Care Month, and the theme is Strengthening Minds.  Uplifting Families.”  This years theme aims to educate the public about taking a holistic approach to the mental and behavioral health of U.S. foster children.

After being traumatized by experiencing abuse and neglect, kids awaiting adoption face additional, unintended consequences while in the foster care system.  Foster children and teens move an average of three times a year, preventing the opportunity to build consistent, loving relationships with caregivers.  Moving often means changing schools, so they lose the support of caring teachers, the joy of friendships, and an estimated six months of academic progress for every school disruption.  With so much loss, it is understandable that up to 80% of children in foster care have significant mental health issues compared to approx. 18-22% of their peers (American Academy of Pediatrics, 2019).

Undoubtedly, children and youth in foster care urgently need their mental health needs prioritized, including access to the necessary healthcare and addressing the need for stable, loving relationships.  For kids awaiting adoption in foster care, relational permanency is crucial to healing.  At Building Arizona Families, we believe one of the most important components for healing from complex trauma is a loving, stable family and safe home providing the sense of family, belonging, and identity that foster children and youth urgently need.

Building Arizona Families offers convenient, informative online seminars if you live in Arizona and are interested in discovering more about U.S. kids awaiting adoption.  You can find the most current schedule and RSVP on our Facebook page HERE or reach out directly to Ixcel Baca, Forever Families program manager, for information. Call Ixcel at (623) 696-9537 or e-mail her at [email protected].  You can also find additional foster child adoption information HERE.

Thank you for considering opening your heart and home to a foster child who urgently needs the love and healing that your safe and loving home provides.  We look forward to serving you on your adoption journey!

There is a Loving Home for All Foster Children Needing a Forever Family

Over 400,000 children face life with uncertainty, without their family, and in unfortunate circumstances out of their control. In the United States, over 400,000 foster children are experiencing difficulties in their life that youth should never have to experience. These children are used to a life with frequent moves between foster homes and even changing schools with the moves and desperately need a forever family to bless them with a family that loves and cares for them.

A forever home can drastically change a foster child’s life when raised in a home with love, structure, and permanency. Some foster care children don’t know what it’s like to have their own room or celebrate holidays with a family. In Arizona, over 2,600 children are legally free and ready to be adopted now. Building Arizona Families walks alongside adoptive families who want to welcome a foster child into their home. To learn more about the Forever Families U.S. Adoption program, please visit us HERE

Children Around the U.S. are Waiting for Someone to Love Them as Family

When a child in foster care is legally free, the state has terminated their birth parents’ rights. These children are wards of the state with no legal parents. Foster children in Arizona that are legally free and waiting for a family in foster care have lost so much in their short life. The loss of family, friends, and home can be detrimental for a child experiencing these circumstances at such a young age, causing issues that may follow them into adulthood. Young children in foster care need the love and safety during this crucial developmental period. Foster children need a safe place offering positive experiences during the healing process for the child.

Families who want to adopt a foster child or a sibling group can continue their adoption journey without becoming foster certified. If your family feels the need to open your home to a loving child in desperate need of a forever family, there is a faster adoption process available. Building Arizona Families offers an exciting program for adoptive families in Arizona, which helps families adopt foster children. Children around the U.S. that are found legally eligible for adoption can be placed directly with an adoptive family in Arizona. Many of these children are five years of age or older. Younger children may be available but are mainly in sibling groups or needing a higher level of care.

Through a direct adoption placement, the adoptive family is not foster certified but licensed to adopt through a home study. During this process, the child lives at the adoptive family’s home for approximately six months until the family legally adopts the child. Building a forever family is a beautiful and wonderful way to offer a safe, loving, and permanent home to a child who deserves one. To learn more about the Forever Families U.S. Adoption program, please download our info kit HERE and visit our website HERE for more information.

Foster to Adopt AZ Foster Children to Protect Them from the Rise of Abuse

The COVID-19 lockdown has not only changed the daily lives of people around the world but has also made home life much more dangerous for many children in at-risk family settings. During times of heightened stress like we are experiencing now, child abuse and domestic violence cases begin to drastically increase, and children in the foster care system are especially vulnerable. Since the coronavirus pandemic, schools have shut down, and foster children do not have regular contact with people and teachers like they once did.  The checks and balances of extra vigilance from other people are now unavailable.

Loving Arizona families can adopt foster children from anywhere in the United States.  The lives of foster children are always difficult, but they are especially difficult right now. Did you know that at any given time in our country, there are almost half a million children in foster care? Can you open your heart and home to provide a loving, safe, and stable home for foster children around the U.S.?  And keep in mind that you do not have to foster to adopt AZ children or foster children anywhere else in the country.  You can directly adopt children from the foster care system without becoming a foster parent first.

At Risk Children are Facing More Dangerous Circumstances Due to the Pandemic

The spike in domestic violence as a result of the increased stress from the pandemic has resulted in increases in child abuse and neglect. When America was required to stay home to stay safe, this was not the case for the thousands of U.S. children who fall victim to abuse and neglect behind closed doors.

At risk children who show up to school with bruises, poor hygiene, poor nutrition, and unhealthy psychosocial behaviors are usually monitored through daily interactions with teachers, school staff, and school program leaders. Teachers were able to keep an eye out for these children and are mandated reporters when abuse or neglect is a concern. But now, with the majority of schools shifting to an online format, these children are no longer being watched over to ensure their safety at home. At risk children could also rely on receiving meals during the school day, and without these meals, they may not be given the proper nutrition in their homes. Workers and volunteers are working diligently to keep the at risk children they are aware of protected and safe, but sadly this is an unrealistic expectation without a network of people watching out for these vulnerable children. This means that it could take something drastic for professionals to be alerted to the abuse and neglect occurring in at risk homes around the U.S.  For the hundreds of thousands of children already in foster care as a result of abuse and neglect, Building Arizona Families provides Arizona families the path to direct adoption of foster children from around the country, without the need to foster to adopt in Arizona.

No Need to Foster to Adopt AZ Children – Direct Adoption is Possible

Contrary to what many people believe, you do not have to foster to adopt foster children. We will help you walk through the direct adoption of children in the foster care system. Download our foster child adoption info kit HERE.

We can work together to help innocent children heal from abuse, neglect, loneliness, fear, and sadness. Direct adoption of a foster child is less expensive than private adoption. The states these children reside in will help facilitate the adoption of foster children whose parental rights are severed because they recognize the urgent need for children to grow up in loving families. Visit us HERE. We can help you begin your adoption journey and offer a child in great need a life full of love and safety. You can also help foster children in Arizona in many other ways, please visit us HERE to learn about more ways to help.

Adopting Foster Children Before They Age Out of Foster Care System

Over 20,000 young adults age out of the foster care system each year in the United States. Aging out of the foster care system means a child turned 18 and was never given the opportunity to have a loving and full life with an adoptive family. In Arizona, there are currently over 900 teenagers about to age out of foster care who will face the scary realities in the world alone. Teenagers that age out of the foster care system face devastating life experiences. Many find themselves in a life full of drugs, abuse, and homelessness, ill-equipped for the dangers of the world. Adopting foster children can help children or teens change their lives, grow in a healthy and loving environment, and enjoy a prosperous adult life.

Foster Kids are Big Dreamers and Have Beautiful Aspirations Too

Did you know over 70% of foster youth around the age of seventeen aspire to go to college? Even though they have experienced many heartbreaking situations, 70% of foster kids are passionate about changing their life and making a difference. Though the odds are stacked against teens in foster care, every teenager deserves the opportunity to follow their dreams and feel supported. Over 13,000 foster children in Arizona right now are questioning what their future holds. You can provide the opportunity for one or more of these children to be surrounded with love, support, and safety in their homes.

The Scary Realities of Aging Out of Foster Care

Up to 36% of youths who age out of foster care become homeless during the transition to adulthood. Many of these teenagers have suffered post-traumatic stress by being removed from their biological family and constantly moving from one set of unfamiliar people and places to another, some for their entire childhood until they age out of foster care at 18 years old.

71% of teenagers who were never adopted by a forever family will make less than $25,000 a year. The struggle to have stable employment is drastically impacted by education level, lack of reliable transportation, lack of references, and experience due to circumstances teens face in foster care.

7 in 10 girls who age out of foster care will become pregnant before the age of 21. This incredibly high number of unplanned pregnancies is related to factors girls growing up in foster care have experienced including abuse, neglect, poverty, family disruption, and general instability.

Children who experience life in foster care, especially ones who sadly age out, have a very high likelihood of developing a substance use dependence. According to research, it is believed that 1 out of 2 young adults who age out of foster care will struggle with addiction. Foster youth who have aged out also have a much higher chance of becoming incarcerated.

How the Forever Families U.S. Program at Building Arizona Families can Change Lives

Thousands of youth all over the country are quickly approaching the day they turn 18 and age out of the foster care system.  They need a loving family now. We serve Arizona families that want to adopt foster children in Arizona or in any state in the U.S. Foster children are in desperate need of loving homes, now more than ever. Shortages of foster homes and a reduction in the number of foster homes are causing foster children to live in emergency shelters, a place no child should ever have to live.  Today, there are approximately 14,000 Arizona children in foster care.  At any given time, approx. 1/3 of those children have had their parental rights severed and are available for immediate adoption.  They urgently need loving families to welcome them home and give them a fresh start to life.

You can change the future of a U.S. foster child. If you want to open your heart and home to a U.S. foster child, our Forever Families U.S. Adoption Program is the right program for you.  Adoptive families that meet adoption criteria can be approved for adoption through a home study.  Once a home study is conducted and the family is approved, families can directly adopt foster children in Arizona and from around the U.S. There is no need for an adoptive family to be foster certified – children are adopted through direct adoption placement.

Now More Than Ever Adopt Foster Kids in Arizona – It’s Essential

The world can be hard enough for kids living in foster care who experience abandonment, loneliness, pain, and sadness. But imagine what happens when life is turned upside down for society, and foster children do not have a forever family to keep them safe and protected. When society faces issues like the current COVID-19 outbreak and quarantine, we ask adoptive families to adopt foster kids in Arizona – it is vital to their safety. Without forever families to love and care for foster kids, too many children may share common spaces and individual health may not be able to be prioritized. Will you consider the urgent need to adopt foster kids in Arizona to ensure that they have a safe, healthy, and loving family?

Nurture, Compassion, and Humor can Change a Foster Kid’s Life Forever

Adoptive parents will act in the best interest of their child, providing consistency and stability. Over 15,000 foster kids in Arizona alone need a safe and permanent home right now. Adopting foster kids in Arizona prevents vulnerable children from hopping from foster house to foster house, many moving 3-6 times a year, changing caregivers, schools, and friends.  The permanent protection of a new family is everything foster kids hope and pray for.

A home full of patience, nurturing, compassion, and humor can significantly change the world of a kid who grew up in foster care. For maybe the first time ever, they will experience feeling safe, being unconditionally loved, and being fully provided for. Building Arizona Families facilitates families’ adoption of foster kids in Arizona and from around the U.S.  The forever family must be Arizona residents who are willing to open their hearts and homes to provide a promising, bright future foster children didn’t think they would ever have. The statistics about foster children who are never adopted and age out of the system and move into adulthood alone are bleak.  A new family will provide the environment to build healthy relationships. Adding a fun sense of humor to family life also trains foster children to manage stressful times and appropriately express feelings, as well as learning to laugh and have fun together as children should.

Building Arizona Families is still working hard to provide forever homes for foster children in need of a permanent family. Visit us HERE to learn more about adopting foster kids in Arizona, and throughout the U.S., as well as other programs our local Arizona adoption agency offers. All children deserve to live a beautiful and happy life, and adopting foster kids in Arizona can provide them with the home they dream of.

Adopt Foster Children in Arizona or Around the U.S. to Provide Crucial Nurturing

Adopt foster children in Arizona or around the U.S. to provide essential nurturing all children need to grow up to be amazing adults. Children begin to understand the world around them through the relationships they experience with parents, loved ones, and caregivers. Children are continually developing physically, emotionally, socially, behaviorally, and intellectually. Children in foster care have the incredibly challenging task of developing into healthy adults with the life they are experiencing. On average, foster children move homes 2-3 times per year.  Some change foster families that they have begun to build relationships with, some change group homes.  It often means changing schools, so a changing of teachers and friends is also a factor.

There is little that remains the same for foster children.  A safe, stable, and nurturing forever home is essential to a child’s fundamental development. When you adopt Arizona foster children or foster children around the U.S. in need of a forever family, you are giving them the opportunity to have a positive life and develop appropriately-as all children should have the opportunity to do.

Qualities of Relationships and Environments Make a Difference in a Child’s Life

Children need loving environments and healthy relationships in their life. Safety, stability, and feeling nurtured should be the foundation for every child. Sadly, children in foster care are not always provided the care they truly need.

The three critical qualities needed for children to develop healthily are-

Safety: The extent to which a child is free from fear and secure from physical or psychological harm in their environment.

Stability: The predictability and consistency in a child’s relationships and living environment.

Nurturing: Children need physical, emotional, and developmental needs met with sensitivity and consistency.

Adopting Arizona foster children or foster children from around the U.S. gives children in foster care a life full of love and hope. Not only does adopting a foster child bless their life forever, but it will also positively change the type of person they grow up to be. Adopting Arizona foster children changes a life that is often full of sadness, emptiness, and fear into a stable, loving platform that they can spring into the future with.

Building Arizona Families Seeks Forever Families to Adopt Foster Children in Arizona

Bless a Child With a Miracle and Adopt Arizona Foster Children

The holiday season was filled with family traditions, special dinners, and spending time with the ones you love. Many children in foster care did not have the opportunity to enjoy these holiday celebrations. By adopting foster children in Arizona, you can bless a child with a miracle! Foster children are waiting for their miracle – to finally have a forever family and a place to call home. During this new year, remember the children that were left behind as we enjoyed special holiday celebrations, presents under the tree, and our forever families.

Make 2020 Holidays Bright by Adopting Foster Children in Arizona

The foster care system makes loving attachment very difficult. Children can be very lonely and really struggle without the security of a family. During the holidays, family memories can be especially painful for children who have suffered abuse and neglect, as they contrast what they had, don’t have, and what children at school have. It’s hard to even imagine the hurt these children have experienced through no fault of their own. By adopting foster children in Arizona, new family traditions can be created, and the pain can begin to disappear. As foster children become part of their new, loving, forever family the journey toward healing and wholeness begins.

Please consider adopting a foster child – there are hundreds of thousands of foster children in the U.S. and over 13,000 in Arizona alone! A child’s life is truly changed through the miracle of forever families. Will you consider starting the journey to adopt a foster child in Arizona? And if you can’t, please share the message with those around you. We should not have orphaned children right here in our own Arizona backyard. Giving a child a life with happiness and joy is truly a miracle.
