Over 100,000 Foster Kids are Waiting to be Adopted Right Now

On any given day in the United States, there are approximately 400,000 children in the U.S. foster care system.  Of those 400,000 children, approximately 124,000 are waiting to be adopted.  There is always an urgent need for loving families to adopt U.S. kids.

Older Children, Sibling Groups, and Special Needs Children Waiting to be Adopted

Each year, approximately 20,000 youth age out of the foster care system when they turn 18 or 21.  When kids that need to be adopted turn thirteen, the likelihood of adoption is 3%, and the percentages decrease from there. These children have to face adulthood alone without the support of a loving family.  Older children are not as readily adopted as younger children. Read more about the need to adopt teenagers before they age out of the foster care system HERE.  Additionally, the best case scenario is to keep brothers and sisters together, as the children have already experienced traumatic family loss.  Special needs children also are less likely to be adopted as they often need extra care due to medical conditions or emotional disabilities.  If you want to adopt U.S. kids and are able, please consider adopting children who are less likely to be adopted.

Adopt U.S. Kids From Any State

Building Arizona Families helps Arizona families adopt U.S. kids from around the country.  As an Arizona licensed adoption agency, we serve Arizona families in the foster child adoption process.  You can download helpful information about adopting foster children on our website HERE.   Building Arizona Families’ program for foster child adoption is called the Forever Families program.  Since 2004, we have helped hundreds of families change the lives and futures of children in foster care who desperately want to be loved and belong to a forever family.

State governments that oversee the children’s welfare recognize that children thrive in loving families, and so state agencies do their best to place children eligible for adoption with families that best match their needs.  Adopting children from foster care does not require adoptive families to be foster care certified.  Adoption approval is granted through the home study process, and Building Arizona Families can walk with your family every step of the way through the home study and adoption approval process.

It’s National Foster Care Month for Kids Awaiting Adoption

With approximately 117,000 kids awaiting adoption in the U.S. foster care system, it is always a good time to bring awareness to the need for loving forever families to open their hearts and homes and change the lives of these vulnerable children and teens.  This month is National Foster Care Month, and the theme is Strengthening Minds.  Uplifting Families.”  This years theme aims to educate the public about taking a holistic approach to the mental and behavioral health of U.S. foster children.

After being traumatized by experiencing abuse and neglect, kids awaiting adoption face additional, unintended consequences while in the foster care system.  Foster children and teens move an average of three times a year, preventing the opportunity to build consistent, loving relationships with caregivers.  Moving often means changing schools, so they lose the support of caring teachers, the joy of friendships, and an estimated six months of academic progress for every school disruption.  With so much loss, it is understandable that up to 80% of children in foster care have significant mental health issues compared to approx. 18-22% of their peers (American Academy of Pediatrics, 2019).

Undoubtedly, children and youth in foster care urgently need their mental health needs prioritized, including access to the necessary healthcare and addressing the need for stable, loving relationships.  For kids awaiting adoption in foster care, relational permanency is crucial to healing.  At Building Arizona Families, we believe one of the most important components for healing from complex trauma is a loving, stable family and safe home providing the sense of family, belonging, and identity that foster children and youth urgently need.

Building Arizona Families offers convenient, informative online seminars if you live in Arizona and are interested in discovering more about U.S. kids awaiting adoption.  You can find the most current schedule and RSVP on our Facebook page HERE or reach out directly to Ixcel Baca, Forever Families program manager, for information. Call Ixcel at (623) 696-9537 or e-mail her at [email protected].  You can also find additional foster child adoption information HERE.

Thank you for considering opening your heart and home to a foster child who urgently needs the love and healing that your safe and loving home provides.  We look forward to serving you on your adoption journey!

Over 275 Teens Exited Foster Care Without an Adoption in Arizona

In 2020, 276 teenagers in foster care never received the wonderful news that a forever family is adopting them and giving them a life full of love, hope, safety, and support. These children now have to experience life without a loving family by their side and a stable foundation for their future. Without a support system, little money, and sometimes even food and water, these 276 children face very tough times ahead of them. Adopting Arizona foster children can change the course of a child’s life forever. Young adults need proper guidance, care, and support to flourish into thriving adults. Sadly, the 276 young adults who aged out of the foster care system were not able to develop into adulthood with a forever family through an Arizona adoption. Will you partner with us to find loving and safe homes for foster teenagers in need?

Building Arizona Families understands how difficult life can be for foster children when they are not adopted by a family that can offer them love and hope. Foster children face a life of loneliness, sadness, and a longing need to feel loved. Every child deserves to feel joy and happiness with a family who loves and cares for them. Are you ready to open your heart and home to a deserving teenager in need for 2021? 2020 was hard enough for everyone, but we can make 2021 a great year for children in foster care with your help!

Providing Foster Children a Forever Home can Save Them from a Transient Lifestyle

When children are not adopted out of foster care and eventually age out of the system, these youths find themselves dealing with far more than they should ever have to endure. Teens aging out of the foster care system are much more likely to live a life of crime, drugs, poor living conditions, and without solid role models to follow. When people open their hearts and their homes and adopt Arizona Foster children, lives are greatly changed. Suddenly, a child who may have moved multiple times a year, been without friends or family in foster care, and wishing for a safe and loving home now has a solid foundation to grow. Learning from a responsible, caring, and loving adult can forever change a foster child’s life by teaching them something they may have never experienced before.

If you are considering Arizona adoption, please consider providing a well-needed home to a child waiting for their forever family in foster care. Building Arizona Families, our Arizona adoption agency, has a special program to help Arizona families adopt a foster child in Arizona or the United States. To learn more about our Forever Families Foster Adoption Program, please visit us HERE for more details.

Keeping Siblings Together When You Adopt Foster Kids in Arizona

Adopting foster kids in Arizona is an urgent matter.  These children have been the victims of child abuse and/or severe neglect.  When the issues that created the abuse have not been remedied and the children cannot safely be returned home, their biological parents’ rights are severed.  When this happens, these abused children enter the care of the Arizona Department of Child Safety. They are placed in foster care – sometimes in emergency shelters, sometimes in foster homes, and sometimes in group homes, depending upon the situation and the availability.  They move an average of 4-5 times per year from foster home to foster home, ending any attachment with the foster parents, often changing schools, and sometimes living with other foster children who have suffered the same fate. This harsh reality creates uncertainty in academic success and the pain of loneliness and rejection that no child should have to bear.

If there is a tug on your heart for hurting foster children, please consider opening your heart and home to adopt foster kids in Arizona. Every child removed from his or her family deserves more out of life than the suffering they have endured and the insecurity and loneliness they are currently experiencing. Imagine the pain each one of these children experiences from the loss of their own family, separation from the only life they have known, and sometimes not even having the opportunity to see their siblings often. Building Arizona Families encourages any family who wants to change a hurting child’s life to adopt foster kids in Arizona and bring love, joy, and peace into a child’s life.

Adopting Sibling Groups From Foster Care Keeps Them Stronger Together

Whenever possible when adopting foster kids, keeping siblings together is very important for their physical and emotional health and development.  When a child is removed from their home for abuse and/or neglect, the trauma a child experiences is deep. To be split up from siblings and facing unknown circumstances alone is unbearable. The need is urgent, and the stories of families who are truly heroes are so heartwarming. One couple in Kansas wanted to make sure this wouldn’t happen to a sibling group so they adopted seven children and gave them a true family complete with their very own brothers and sisters!

Emerson, Autumn, Jaxon, Journey, Jace, Piper, and Sawyer grew up abused and neglected.  They were removed from their home and entered the Kansas foster care system. Lisa and Gary couldn’t bear the idea of them suffering further, so they offered a safe and loving home to all seven siblings. In 2019, wearing all matching sports jerseys, the children were legally adopted and became a forever family. Before the adoption, it took over a year to get all the siblings together in one home after being separated in foster care. Lisa, the adoptive mother, could not see these children lose each other after everything they had already suffered.

When foster kids are adopted in Arizona or around the United States, sadly it is difficult to keep siblings together. Megan Prothe, a licensed adoption permanency specialist, stated, “It can be challenging in adoption to keep siblings together, but to do so makes a profound difference for children.” And that is what Lisa and Gary did when making the selfless decision of opening their home to seven foster kids in great need. Now they can share their lives together with their new forever family.

Building Arizona Families Encourages Us to Adopt Foster Children

Children enter foster care through no fault of their own because of abuse and/or neglect. They need your help! Building Arizona Families is privileged to help Arizona families seeking to adopt foster children throughout the United States. Our mission is to find adoptive homes for as many children in foster care as we possibly can. Loving forever families provide a beautiful life for a child in need through adopting foster children. Every child needs a home full of love, warmth, and support. Blessing a vulnerable foster child with a  safe home and loving family can inspire others to do the same.

Each year, over 20,000 children in foster care age out of the system without a permanent family. After leaving foster care at 18 years old, these children continue to face abuse and neglect in their lives. Families are stepping up and changing some of these children’s lives every day, and we need more families just like them to adopt foster children and give them a brighter future full of love and opportunity.

Building Arizona Families is Changing Lives

Adopt foster children

There are many beautiful adoption stories Building Arizona Families can share. Arizona families are brought closer together by choosing to open their lives to adopt foster children. Jessica and Chris were one of these families to step up for a foster child desperately wishing for a safe, loving forever family. They welcomed Raiden lovingly into their home and gave him the security and identity of a loving family that he had never known before. This selfless decision changed the course of Raiden’s life. He will grow up secure in the love of family, which will launch him into a bright future.  Watch Raiden’s story HERE.

Children in the foster care system are just children – they haven’t done anything wrong.  They desperately want love, acceptance, and to be treated like they matter. They don’t want to move from place to place with their belongings in a garbage bag.  They don’t want to have to keep switching schools.  They want bicycles, pets, and to get to go to a ball game or the movies.  They want to be treated like children who have families that love them. With close to 500,000 children still in foster care in the United States, the need is urgent. Building Arizona Families wants to find as many of these children forever homes before they age out and no longer have the chance.

Foster Children Are Just Children Wanting Love and Acceptance

Almost half a million children are waiting every day for someone to adopt them and change the life they are living. Will you be the one to change their story and adopt foster children? How To Save A Child’s Life During National Child Abuse Prevention Month

There are thousands of Arizona children in desperate need of love and support. Through no fault of their own, they have experienced heartbreaking abuse and/or neglect. No child should ever have to endure the pain and sadness of being abused by the person who is supposed to love and care for them. Foster to adopt in AZ gives these children a chance at life and a forever family to love them always.

National Child Abuse Prevention Month raises public awareness during April to increase the efforts and resources necessary to protect children from abuse. Awareness regarding how to help protect and nurture vulnerable children in our own communities can truly save a child’s life.

Why They Need Heroes Now

In January 2019, it was reported that over 14,500 children are in the Arizona foster care system. The majority of these children are victims of gross negligence, physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or trafficking. Sadly, this maltreatment usually occurs through the hand of someone they know. Physical, sexual, and emotional abuse can cause severe pain, delayed development, and significant behavioral issues.

Once these abused and/or neglected children are taken into state care, it does not mean their troubles are over. In 2017, it was reported that at the national level, 75% of children in foster care are neglected, 18% are physically abused, and 7% are sexually abused.

This is horrific and does not even take into consideration that the average foster child will move from where they live 4-5 times, and change schools at least once a year. It is no wonder that they are more at risk for teen pregnancy, homelessness, PTSD, and poor educational outcomes.

This is happening in our neighborhoods, right now. It’s why children in Arizona need you now. They need heroes to save them from the bleak outcomes they can expect if they stay in the foster care system. Foster children all over Arizona and from around the country are hoping for a loving and caring adult to rescue them and welcome them into a forever family.

How To Be The Answer to A Foster Child’s Prayer

Children who experience abuse and/or neglect need support and love from a caring adult that understands the consequences of their trauma. A child needs to feel safe and needs to feel supported in expressing and managing their intense emotions. Traumatic events can cause a child not to have the ability to cope and have appropriate physical and emotional responses. By helping them, or providing the help they need, children can begin to heal, to develop loving, trusting relationships, and to experience bright futures.

No Need to Foster to Adopt AZ Foster Children

Every Arizona citizen can help make sure every child can grow up in a healthy and stable environment. Building Arizona Families does direct adoption placements for Arizona families. The adoptive family does not need to be foster care certified. Instead, the adoptive family is certified to adopt through a home study. A child, from Arizona or from around the country, can come to live in your home and after six months your family can legally adopt.

Adopting a child out of the foster care system is less expensive than private adoption. The adoption process also moves more quickly.

Can You Be the Answer to a Foster Child’s Prayer?

Building Arizona Families invites you to consider adopting a foster child. Remember, contrary to what many people believe, you do not have to foster to adopt AZ foster children. We will help you walk through the direct adoption of children in the foster care system.

You will be blessed by having a precious child to love, and you will change the life of a foster child forever. If you would like more information on the foster child adoption process, find out more HERE.

We also invite you to attend one of our informative adoption seminars. You can reach out to Ixcel Baca, Program Coordinator, directly and ask any questions you might have. Ixcel would love to hear from you! You can reach Ixcel at (623) 696-9537 or by e-mailing her at [email protected].

Chapter 4: Protecting Children

Thousands of Arizona Foster Children Are Hoping for Forever Families

There are thousands of foster children in Arizona whose parental rights have been severed. This means that these precious children are legally available for adoption. Additionally, Arizona families interested in helping vulnerable Arizona foster children who have already suffered so much can consider the foster to adopt AZ children process. The foster to adopt AZ children process is not required, however, and foster children whose parental rights have been severed are available for direct adoption.

Adopting foster children is a wonderful way to grow a forever family for many reasons. First and foremost, these precious children deserve to be safe, loved, and have a bright future. No child in America should grow up in foster care – children flourish in families. Secondly, adoption from foster care is often faster and far less expensive than private adoption. And of course the best reason, is that it will change your family and the child’s life forever!

Building Arizona Families specializes in helping Arizona families adopt foster children through our Forever Families U.S. Adoption Program. As a licensed adoption agency, we have been serving prospective adoptive families since 2004. We are located in Phoenix, AZ but are able to provide adoptive services of foster children from every state, not just Arizona. The adoptive family must be located in Arizona, but the child is not required to be a foster child in Arizona.

For more information about adopting Arizona foster children, read more HERE.  You can read more about Building Arizona Families Forever Families U.S. Adoption Program HERE. Please feel free to reach out to the program manager to get more specifics about adopting Arizona foster children or the foster to adopt AZ process.  Please contact Ixcel Baca directly  at 623-696-9537 or by e-mail HERE.

Adopt Arizona Foster Children Directly from Foster Care

adopt Arizona foster children

ADOPT ARIZONA FOSTER CHILDREN THROUGH THE BUILDING ARIZONA FAMILIES FOREVER FAMILIES U.S. PROGRAM

As an accredited adoption agency, one of our goals is to help people adopt Arizona foster children.  We believe every child should grow up in a loving family. Building Arizona Families connects Arizona foster children who are hoping and praying for forever families with loving Arizona families who are hoping and praying for children of their own!

THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF ARIZONA FOSTER CHILDREN WAITING TO BE LOVED IN FOREVER FAMILIES

Did you know that right now in there are thousands of Arizona foster children  whose parental rights have been severed?  This means you can directly adopt Arizona foster children  without the need to become a foster parent first. These precious children need loving families right now. The longer they remain in foster care, the greater risk there is of negative impacts like PTSD, poor academic outcomes, and poor self esteem to name a few. The average foster child moves homes two to three times per year, and every child deserves a safe, stable home environment to thrive in.

DIRECT ADOPTION FROM FOSTER CARE PROVIDES CHOICE TO PROSPECTIVE PARENTS

One of the benefits for those who choose to adopt Arizona foster children  whose parental rights are already severed is that adoptive families are able to choose the gender, age, and ethnicity of the child(ren) they adopt. Adoptive families can also choose sibling groups as well.

ADOPTION OF FOSTER CHILDREN IS LESS EXPENSIVE THAN OTHER TYPES OF ADOPTION

Adopting directly from foster care is also substantially less expensive than private adoption. The state of Arizona covers some of the adoption costs involved because foster children are in the custody of the state for care.
